Havard and Brouwers are back in the team training [x]
In this interview, Havard Nordtveit talks about his return from injury, training partner Roel Brouwers and what he will be watching on TV tomorrow evening.
Howie, you’ve been out with an ankle injury for more than a month now. Simple question: how are you doing?
Nordtveit: I’m doing fine, thanks. I’ve been out on the training ground with Roel and our physio Andy Bluhm this week. So far I’ve had no negative reaction from my ankle. All being well I’ll be back in full training soon.
And when do you think you’ll be back in first-team action?
Nordtveit: I don’t want to commit myself. If something happened in the meantime and the injury flared up again, it’d be a huge setback. I’m simply taking each day as it comes and trying to get back slowly but surely.
What’s your training routine at the moment?
Nordtveit: We’re doing a lot of conditioning work and in general keeping things very simple. Today we did some sprints, for example, but we also practised in front of goal for a bit. It’s getting better all the time and I’m having a lot of fun with Roel. We often compete against each other in different drills.
Is it disheartening for you to see your teammates training as normal on the adjacent pitch?
Nordtveit: No, not at all. I was obviously downcast in the beginning but things are looking up again now. It’s just a great feeling to feel the cold and kick a ball around with the grass under your feet, even if I’m training on my own with Roel.
It’s an international break this weekend. Are you glad to have another week to fight your way back into contention?
Nordtveit: Of course, for me and Roel it’s good. We want to make use of the time and give it all we’ve got to resume full training soon.
Norway will be in action in Denmark. Do you have Norwegian television in Germany and will you be watching the game?
Nordtveit: Yes, I’ve got Norwegian television but I don’t know whether I’ll have a chance to watch the game. My girlfriend is from Iceland and they’re playing Croatia in the play-offs tomorrow. I think that’s what’ll be on in our house tomorrow but I might watch a bit of Italy versus Germany as well.
